Who you're dealing with
Reframe is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], registered in Finland under business ID [BUSINESS ID], VAT [VAT NUMBER].
Postal address: [STREET ADDRESS], [POSTCODE AND CITY], [COUNTRY]. Email: [SUPPORT EMAIL ADDRESS].
"We" and "us" means that company. "You" means whoever is using re-frame.art or placing an order on it. These terms apply from the moment you start using the site.
What Reframe actually does
Reframe is a photobook editor that runs in your browser. You pick photos off your own device, the app groups them into chapters and lays them out on a page the size of the book you've chosen, and you rearrange it until you like it.
While you're designing, your photos never leave your computer — they're held in your browser's own storage. When you place an order, the photos you actually used are uploaded so a print file can be produced from them, and that file is sent to our print partner, Prodigi, who prints the book and ships it to you. The privacy policy walks through exactly what goes where.
We sell you a finished, printed book. We are the seller and your contract is with us, even though someone else operates the press.
You don't need an account
There's no sign-up. Your book lives in your browser, and an order needs only the email address and delivery address you give at checkout. There is an optional "sign in with Google" feature in the code for saving work across devices; it is switched off at the moment, and if we turn it on it will stay optional.
The flip side of no account: we can't recover a book you lose. If you clear your browser data, use private browsing, or switch to a different browser or computer, the book you were working on is gone and we have no copy of it. Keep your original photos backed up somewhere that isn't this app.
Your photos stay yours
You keep every right you had in your photos, your text and your finished layout. You give us permission to store, copy, resize, convert and print that content, and to pass the resulting print files to Prodigi and its couriers — only so far as is needed to make and deliver the book you ordered.
That permission is for nothing else. We don't use your pictures in marketing, we don't sell them, and we don't use them to train machine-learning models. If we ever wanted to show a customer's book publicly, we'd ask first.
What you may not print
You confirm that you have the right to use everything you put in the book. Please don't use Reframe to print:
- photos, artwork or text belonging to someone else without their permission;
- images of people that were taken or would be shared unlawfully;
- sexual content involving minors, or anything else that is illegal to produce or possess;
- material that incites violence or hatred against a group of people.
We don't look through your book — we can't, while you're designing it, and we don't want to. But if we or our print partner become aware that an order breaks these rules, we may refuse it or cancel it. If we cancel for that reason before printing, you get a full refund.
Prices, payment and when an order is real
The price you see on the order page is the whole price: printing, shipping and our service fee, in the currency shown. It's calculated live from our printer's current rates for the exact format, size, paper and page count you picked, so it moves when you change those. Occasionally the printer's price changes between quoting and paying; the amount charged is always the amount shown on the payment page you confirm.
Payment is handled by Stripe on a page Stripe hosts. Your card number never reaches our servers — we only learn that the payment succeeded, plus the email and delivery address you entered.
An order becomes a contract when the payment goes through and we send it to production. Until then, everything on screen is an invitation to buy, not an acceptance. If we can't fulfil an order — a format goes out of stock, the file won't print, we can't ship to your address — we'll tell you and refund you in full.
Deliveries outside the destination's customs area may attract import duty or local taxes, which are yours to pay. We ship to the countries offered in the checkout address picker.
The design is yours; we print it exactly
So a few things are on you rather than on us:
- Resolution. A small or heavily cropped photo blown up across an A4 page will look soft in print even though it looked fine on screen.
- Safe margins.The editor draws a dashed line 10 mm inside each page and warns you when something crosses it. Anything outside that line can be trimmed off when the book is cut, and content that runs into the spine can disappear into the binding.
- Colour.Your screen is backlit and emits light; a printed page reflects it. Prints run a little darker and less vivid than a bright display, especially in deep blues and neon tones. That difference is normal and isn't a printing fault.
- Words. Typos, wrong dates and wrong names print exactly as typed.
Use the preview before you order — it flips through the finished book the way it will be bound. If a book still arrives wrong, our refunds & returns policy covers what happens next.
Making and delivering your book
Books are printed on demand — nothing exists until you order it. Production usually starts within hours of payment and the whole job typically takes a few working days before it's handed to a courier, with the shipping estimate shown at checkout on top. Those are estimates from the printer, not guarantees, and busy periods stretch them.
Delivery is tracked. Once your parcel is moving you can follow it from the order confirmation page.
Changing or cancelling
Because a book is made specifically for you, the ordinary 14-day change-of-mind right for online purchases doesn't apply. There is a short window before your file is sent to the press when we can still stop it — the refunds & returns policy explains the window, and everything we do when a book turns up damaged, misprinted or not what you ordered.
Where our responsibility starts and stops
We're responsible for the things a seller is responsible for: delivering a book that matches what you ordered and is free of defects, and for the harm our own negligence causes. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that can't be limited by law.
Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, our liability for any one order is limited to what you paid for it. We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and we're not liable for the loss of your own photo library: the copies held in your browser are a working cache, not a backup service, and they can be cleared by your browser at any time.
The site itself
Reframe is a small, actively-developed product. We don't promise it will be available without interruption or free of bugs, and features can change or disappear between visits. If a change would lose work you have in progress, we'll try to warn you first — but see the point above about keeping your own copies.
The site, its code, its design and its illustrations are ours. Please don't copy or resell them. Your book is a different matter entirely — that's yours.
Changes to these terms
We'll update this page when the product or the law changes, and we'll change the date at the top when we do. The version that governs your order is the one published when you placed it, so it's worth saving a copy of your confirmation email.
Law, and what to do if we disagree
These terms are governed by Finnish law. If you're a consumer living elsewhere in the EU, you still get the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of your own country — that choice of law can't take those away.
Please email us first: [SUPPORT EMAIL ADDRESS]. Most things are a reprint and an apology. If we can't sort it out between us, a consumer in Finland can take it to the Consumer Disputes Board after first contacting the Consumer Advisory Service. A consumer elsewhere in the EU can get help from their European Consumer Centre.
